Lawyers

Bemih Kanyonge , Advocate, LLM, LLB, ATP (KSL):

Bemih is the firm’s co founder and Managing Partner. He has experience working in civil society, private practice and public sector. He has experience in civil and criminal litigation and has been involved in public interest and constitutional litigation. He also has experience in commercial transactions.

He has previously worked with TradeMark East Africa (TMEA), the State Department for East African Affairs, Muthaura Mugambi Ayugi & Njonjo (MMAN) Advocates, Kinuthia Kahindi & Co. Advocates, Kituo cha Sheria and The Open Society Foundations, Budapest, Hungary– an international non-governmental organisation.

Bemih studied law at Moi University, a post graduate diploma in law from the Kenya School of Law and a masters degree in Human Rights and Comparative Constitutiona Law from the Central European University.

He qualified as advocate of the High Court of Kenya in 2011.

Harriet Sang:
Harriet is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She was admitted on May 2016. Prior to Joining M&KA Advocates, she was working with Kidenda Onyango Anami Advocates, Nairobi, where she gained experience in Conveyancing, Commercia ltransactions and Civil litigation. She has also worked for Madaba& Advocates in Mbale, Uganda hence has considerable knowledge and understanding of legal systems in both Kenya and Uganda. She has also previously volunteered with The International Justice Mission in Uganda.Mrs. Sang considers research to be her key strength.

Maureen Kanyoi:

Maureen is the firm's legal secretary. She has previously worked with George N. Kimani & Company Advocates, Tim Okwaro & Co. Advocates and Mid Africa Logistics. 

She has great office management, administration and client care skills. 

Kenneth Gikuyu Kang’ari – Paralegal:
Kenneth is a paralegal trained by the Kenya School of Law. He is currently a second year law student at the Mount Kenya University Faculty of Law. He has an interest in commercial law and intellectual property.

Michael Tsimangi:
Michael is a law intern who is hard working with a great desire to learn. He is a graduate of Moi University’s Faculty of Law and has since horned his skills in the human rights world and in private legal practice.
He is currently a student at the Kenya School of Law.

Charles Otieno:
Mr. Otieno is an accountant. He ensures that the firm’s books are in order and that the Firm complies with its tax obligations.

Jackson Mutinda- paralegal clerk:
Jackson is an experienced registered Court Process Server with many years of experience transacting Land and Company Registration matters.

Consultants

Carol Mburugu, Advocate, LLB, ATP (KSL):

Carol is a Commissioner for Oaths and co-founding partner. She has vast experience in Civil and Criminal Litigation. She has been involved in successful public interest litigation and class action cases. She is also strong on drafting and conveyancing. She is a tax litigation lawyer and has been over the past 2 years increased her capacity in the field of tax related litigation. She previously worked for the Firm of KiokoMunyithyaNgugi & Co. Advocatesand Kituo cha Sheria Kenya’s oldest legal aid organisation. Carol was the 2013 Law Society of Kenya’s Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year having dedicatedly contributed her professional services to many poor and marginalized Kenyans.
